Menu and prices

One place in Maska HQ for dishes, the Brand price and each Outlet price, add-ons, and where a dish sells.

Open POS → Menu in Maska HQ. The menu has four tabs: Dishes, Prices, Categories and Add-ons.

Recipes are made in Procurement by the kitchen. HQ shows each dish’s recipe beside it so you can see what it costs, but you do not change the recipe here.

Dishes

The list of dishes is on the left. Press a dish and it opens on the right, next to the list, so you can move from dish to dish without closing anything. On a tablet the dish opens as a panel over the list.

A dish shows:

  • its name, category, how many outlets sell it, and its GST;
  • the one next thing to do with it: Approve, Set dine-in price, Go live, Choose outlets or Put back;
  • its food cost: what the recipe costs against the dine-in price, and the brand’s food cost target;
  • its price for each channel (dine-in, takeaway and each delivery app), which you can change right in the cell;
  • its recipe lines, read only;
  • its add-ons;
  • where it sells: the outlets that carry it.

Send back returns a dish to the chef with a reason. Take off menu stops it selling at every outlet. Orders already taken stay as they are. Both ask you to confirm on the dish itself.

Prices

The Prices tab is one table: dishes down the side, channels across the top. Change as many prices as you need, then press Save once. Every change is saved together, or none of them is.

Pick which prices you are changing at the top:

  • Brand price is the price for every outlet.
  • Outlet price is the price one outlet charges instead. Pick the outlet under the switch. An empty cell means that outlet uses the brand price.

If a price is not a number, the cell is marked and nothing is saved until you fix it. If you switch between Brand price and Outlet price with changes not saved, the page asks whether to keep editing or drop them.

Add-ons

Add-ons are the extras and choices a guest picks on a dish. They come in add-on groups, like Size or Milk. Each group has its choices, like Large or Oat milk, each with an extra charge.

A group is one of two kinds:

  • Customer picks one: the guest must pick exactly one, like Veg or Chicken. The pick joins the dish name on the bill and the kitchen ticket.
  • Add-ons: extras a guest can put on top, as many as the group allows.

Link a group to the dishes that offer it. A choice that uses stock names what it uses, so the stock goes down when it sells. The Add-ons tab warns you when a choice does not reduce stock yet.

To set up many at once, use Import on the Add-ons tab and fill in the sheet.

Categories

Categories group dishes on the menu and on the counter. A category can be retail: things you sell as they are, like a bag of coffee. Retail items take stock when sold and do not go to the kitchen.
